.... I actually just came to the game section to see if there was a thread about this game. I don't know if I'll be able to buy it this week, but I want this fucking game. I could care less that the gameplay is a blatant ripoff of God of War, I loved God of War. This game just looks SICK.

Dude! I'm a HUGE GOW fan also! I don't get why some people are hating this game already. because, to me, it just means that i will love the gameplay! It's completely different source material for a story. I'm going to trade in a couple games and I also have a $16 gift card for game stop.

Well, God Of War (as much as it was a true gaming masterpiece) was a blatant rip-off also, so I guess it's unfair to criticize this game because of that, right?

People say it's a ripoff of Prince of Persia, Devil May Cry, etc (God of War). I don't really agree. I definitely see the influence but, it's its own beast.

I've been playing Dante's Inferno for half an hour or forty-five minutes or so and man, it's pretty friggin' sweet.

I wish I could do the same, but I gotta work in the morning and an all nighter wouldn't be good for me at all, heh.

I hear the first few hours are great, the middle section of the game loses the vast 'epic-ness' of the first portion of the game since the chambers feel more closed off (which makes sense considering he's descending into hell, at least I think it makes sense), but then the last part of the game is mostly 'steel cage match' types of fights that put limitations on you like 'no using magic'. I wonder if they really did just run out of ideas but, so far, I'm loving this game. It's fuckin' crazy cool.

I got it for the PS3 as well. I just think a button masher like this plays way better on the PS3 controller than on the 360. First time I think I passed up a game on the 360 for the PS3.

No no Zupe, I wasn't talking about PoP nor DMC... but about a more "obscure" game... Rygar. Take a look and judge by yourself:

Rings any bells?

Oh, yeah. I don't know, Rygar ... I didn't really think it was 'all that'. If those behind God of War really aspired to make a game like Rygar (which I doubt), well, they really went WAY above and beyond the call of duty. God of War is so superior to Rygar, I can't even think of them as being in the same ball park.

agreed.
i atayed up until 4 last night getting through greed. this game is tough! they allow you to change the difficulty setting during the game but i dont think there's much difference between classic and zealot.

I'm not saying they aspired to make a game like Rygar, but to me it's obvious they took several elements from that game and incorporated them to GoW... the whole mythology thing, the huge bosses (okay, this is more like a norm for bosses, lol), the magic, and for fucks sake, the hero with weapons chained to his body! Of course they created a superior game in every aspect, I'm just talking about where they got inspiration from ;)

Sorry for derailing the topic, though. This particular game looked badass from the very first moment. I hope I'll get to put my hands on it some day :(

I played the demo, and this game is amazing. I love the anime cut scenes, those are extremely sick

yeah this game is great. dont let the reviews throw you off. their only complaint was that the gameplay is just like GoW. to me, that's a good thing.

That's not true. They also complained that the second third of the game begins to lose its 'vast' and 'open' feel to it, which ultimately made it more epic in the first third of the game. They also complained that the last third of the game seems to be a lot of 'locked in' battles, arena style I think, which made the game feel like it lost its touch. I can't comment on this yet, as I'm still not wicked far as of yet.

well i beat this game friday morning. zupe is right. the fight's are more confined and repetitive. they attepted to do a trial type thing for the 10 levels of malebolge where you're forced to used more than your weapons. beating the shit out of lucifer was not as satisfying as i'd hoped. it ends with a cliffhanger which means there will be a sequel. not sure how that would work. it just made me want to play god of war even more. i went out and got the GOW collection.

Well I would be pretty stoked to play Dante's Inferno II, if and when it ever gets made. I'm sure they'll take reviews into consideration, and try to make it as epic as the first half of this game was, if not more so, and I'm sure they'll try and keep it that way throughout the entirety of the game.
